A fun video

Our Office and a Mormon Helping Hands Activity

The door to our office in the Kololo Stake Center.

Sitting at our desk, looking at 6 pics of previous humanitarian couples.

Ralph and Samuel Kizito discussing previous projects. He is a
site monitor for projects.

This is the Health Center where the Njeru Branch did a service
project. They have cleaned here for 5 years!

The waiting room with women waiting to be seen.

Getting ready to get started!

Exam room.

Hand washing station. These are very common and we see set ups
like this even in restaurants.

These good members and branch pres (2 from left) were the first
to arrive and get started,

Cleaning windows on the outside.

We got quite the crowd, even this little family across the street.

Pres Jaker greeting a new helper Joyce, 2nd counselor in YW.
She is one of the young women!

Ralph and Ivan cleaning blood and guts off floor! Ugh!

Cleaning the waiting room. Notice how everyone has on exam
gloves and masks! Hope this helps and was enough!

Our group picture as we have just finished!! Everyone was proud
and thrilled to help out!

Enjoying refreshments provided by the welfare service missionaries.
Bananas, biscuits, (really cookies) and water.

Ralph talking with the director of the clinic.

We pass this bicycle shop everytime we drive to Njeru. It is
open early, every day of the week! We need to stop and visit.

We have mentioned all the crazy things we see being hauled
by boda drivers and customers.

These are the birds of the week! Can anyone name them? I wanted
to take a pic with me standing next to them. They are almost as
tall as me. But we all know I am not too tall!

A bike parked with a heavy load. I can't even see where he sits!

A young girl with her load of weaving stuff.

Probably her dad and brother with same load.

As we drove home from church we had to get a pic and video
of these guys...singing, skating, and being towed.

Another crazy, common load for bodas. Live chickens. We see
these often and sometimes the chickens are just tied by their
legs and hung from handelbars.

We see these bulls(?) with their long, huge horns everywhere.
They don't seem to get much nourishment from the grass!
We saw this truck at Shoprite, our favorite store!

Another landmark we pass often.

More Photos

S Goodwin is napping while we wait for Godfry to pick us up.
Nice spot to stop! Cool and shady with a clean place to sit.

Water tank and ladders at the restaurant where we stopped.

Lady making purses at Friday Market.
Boda loaded with new mattresses. They started to fall off!

I noticed these birds across the street from Njeru Chapel. I will
try to remember come thanksgiving. Grandkids, name the birds!?

This is not a bird, but what is it?? Only grandkids need to answer!
I put Ralph's name tag there so you can see the size!! Yikes!!

This is our cleaning lady, Christine with Nathan ready to take
a nap. He weighs 17 kilo!!

A couple of guards at one of the stores. The man usually wands E
Howard and the lady checks my purse. This is after a search of our
vehicle as we enter parking area.

Women weaving at Friday Market.

This brother has a shop in part of a container at the market. He is
a new member of the church and he and his wife have 2 treadle
sewing machines they use to make almost anything. We are having
him make some ties for Ralph. He is also making a wraparound
skirt for S Goodwin and an apron for S Chabra.

Njeru Branch

This is Njeru Branch where we have been assigned. It takes us
almost 2 hours of driving to get here. We leave about 7:30am.
Ralph meets beforehand with the Branch Pres. Sacrament starts
at 10:00am everywhere in Uganda.

This building is rented by the church. On each side is a 'motel'.
There is a large grassy area in back.

The back of the chairs for sacrament meeting.

The Elders Quorum Pres rides to church on this pink bike. His is
the only transport to church beside our truck! Everyone else walks.

Some of the young woman in our branch. Sis Rosemary the YW
Pres asked me to pick up some 'For the strength of Youth' for the
YW and YM. Everyone was thrilled!! Like Christmas had come!!

Patience, Precious, Joyce and little sister. I had also picked up
some New Eras.

Ralph with EQ Pres and the sister in blue and white is Rosemary,
the YW Pres.

I forgot, another transport. This man must be a boda driver during
the week. Brought his whole family to church!

Everyone is anxious to read their Era.

This week we hitched a ride to church with E/S Goodwin because our truck was being de-roached. When they stopped to pick us up after church (they go about 15k further to their branch) at Njero, their truck died.
Dead Battery! The owner from the motel next door came to offer
help. He had 1 jumper cable! But an investigator brought a battery,
and some cable and held them on and got us going. We got part way
home and then lost air-conditioning, then power window and then the
truck died again. We had to be rescued by Godfrey, from the office, who
brought a new battery. We finally got home at 5:30 last nite. A long day!
