Glasses Handover with Suzan Apondi in Jinja on Oct 16 2015 & lunch!

Main Street Primary School in Jinja. The church had 300 glasses
to give away. These were left over from a project in Rwanda.

Suzan Apondi was the organizer for this event and asked E/S
Howard to help support it. Pres and S Chatfield came, but had
a wedding and would be late. They had announced that the Pres
of the LDS church was coming! So when Ralph and I showed up
they assumed he was the Vice Pres. :)

Eye Dr. (blue shirt) helping someone get the proper prescription.

The people were waiting under a tent that had been set up outside.

I think E Howard is trying to rest his eyes.

We started the glasses handover around 2:00pm. It had been a long
day for most of these good people.

Everyone was very thankful and appreciative.

We even had an officer come who we were thrilled to meet.

Most of the ladies were in their 'Sunday Best'

We were thrilled to help with such a great project. A blessing
to many people!
We went to a fancy, nice place for lunch, along the Nile River.

Suzan Apondi and E Howard. Can you see a dinosaur in background?

This was Suzy's lunch! She was very excited!!
A whole talipia!

She ate the whole thing! Including the eyeballs and fins. She said
the fins taste like crackers! I took her word for it. No need to try!
I had delicious pork chops! YEAH!!
A wonderful day and a great blessing to 300 people! :)

Everyday life in Uganda for Humanitarian Missionaries!

Elder Howard hard at work in office in our apartment. He still
uses his sticky notes! Nothing different from the Bike Shoppe!

Young missionaries in our building. They meet each wednesday
for preparation. They are faithful and wonderful! We love these
young missionaries!! They are a blessing to us and the people of
Uganda!

What a great meeting place! I know that some of our guards have
now joined the church. Maybe through the good example of these
young men and women. They start with prayer and even sing
opening and closing songs.

On the far left is Elder Schweitzer from St George and the muzungu
next to him is Elder Barker from Herriman. All the rest are from
somewhere in Africa.

The specialists in South Africa asked us to check on existing,
older projects and evaluate them for success. We went to St.
Andrews school that had been given a water pump 2 years previous.
This was probably about 80 km from our apt. We used our Ipad
and google maps to find our way. Worked well! Ofcourse we had
a good navigator!

As we pulled up to the school, the first thing we saw was the pump.
Working well!! Even looks like clean water!! The pump is used by
school and neighborhood families.

E Howard with the Headteacher and the vice at St Andrews. They
said that the pump had broken down in Aug but they had collected
funds and had someone repair it. That means this project is a huge
success, because they are willing to take care and repair it, without
our help and support. As we looked around it was obvious that perhaps
we could help in different ways.

This is a classroom with benches and desks.

Some in bad need of repair!!

The boys latrine is almost full.

This is inside the girls latrine.

The girls latrine.

Inside the boys latrine.

Almost ready to leave and more kids at the pump getting water.

Once they see my camera, we get more helpers waiting to pump!
For most of these kids it will be the first time they have had a
photo taken and they are always thrilled to see the picture after!
We are so blessed!

Checking water sources for possible water projects.

Water sources that we our hoping to improve upon.

All these water sources are in the Njeru area, where we attend
church on Sunday.

I wanted this at the end of the blog, but sometimes things don't
go where I want them. Boda transort...a bathtub!

Boda driver with tub. They always smile after their pic is taken.
His passenger was holding onto tub.

Another water source. I hope we can help improve all sources.

And another source with bridge to stand on.

These are officials from the district, met us at some of the sources.

S Howard, the Minister of Education, and a committee member
that met us and welcomed us at this source with her trilling. She
is in her best Sunday outfit and hiked down to site.

Some of our Missionaries.

Elder Howard and Elder Tolman working on their truck with a dead
battery. Elder Tolman is from Idaho and has gone home.

I don't know everyone name. We don't usually see them.

Elder Mothajana one of our A.P.s is in the center. He is from S.A.

Elder Tsele the other A.P. with the huge smile. A neat, positive kid!

Some of the new Muzungu missionaries, fresh from UT & ID

More of the new missionaries and Sis Chabra. She and her
husband make up the medical team. And we all receive great
care!! :)

This is transfer day and everyone comes to our apt building to
wait for rides.

New and old, coming and leaving. I am taking pictures from
our apt window on the 2nd floor.

Some of the Elders notice me taking pics and start to pose.

More Elders new and old.

One of our new Elders and Elder with a broken arm.

Some of our oldest missionaries!! Standing in front of their truck.
We have used this truck and even had it deroached once! We got
a new truck the first of Oct. A silver ford ranger!

E. Schweitzer, from St George, E. Barker from Herriman (brand new)
and E.Kityega. E. Schweitzer got here just after we arrived and he
is already a trainer. He is a good kid and a great missionary!

The middle missionary is just new and on his way to Rwanda. I
made banana spilts for desert with a strawberry on top. He asked
me what it was, had never seen one before.
