Junior Tabernacle Choir, at Kololo Stk Conf. These kids sang
beautiful!! and the conductor was the young man on the left
front. He was amazing and the kids sang every verse and knew
every word of  'I Know My Savior Loves Me'! Wonderful!!
Notice the matching ties for the boys and hair ribbons for girls.

Th school kids were busy doing a beautification of the borehole
area at their school.

Everyone helping, young and old!

This is serious work.

Some of the new desks delivered at St Andrews in the Kijaguso
Cluster.

One of the teachers with her new (badly needed) desk and chair.

We had to drive through this swamp to get to St Andrews. Lots of
water, but did not get stuck!

I think this is the grey crowned crane. The national bird of
Uganda. He was flying right next to our truck.

We went through this little village and it must be their market
day. The road was filled with anything you might need.

Everyone had something to sell.

Another school and more desks.

The kids always like to have their photo taken.

Look how nice these desks are.

3 cubby holes for 3 students/desk. The sticks are for addition and
subtraction. Certainly more to use then fingers.

The sign blew down and needs to be repaired.

More students and more desks.

We had to go for support to the police post. One of our contractors
got beat up and robbed and he wanted us there to help his cause.
This is Sam Gawola. I asked him if i could take his photo. Once
before when I was ready to take a pic of police I nearly got us
thrown in jail. NO PICTURES. He was nice and happy!

S Howard and Sam Gawola in front of police post in Mengo.

Another heavy load!!

These are my new twins at church. They don't understand what I
say at all. I tried to tell them that I have twin boys too. I don't
think they understood until I got out John and Matt's birth pic.
They were thrilled! The boy with the brown tie was sick and
went home after this pic.

These boys are 14 and usually pass the sacrament.
I teach the youth  about genealogy and  had made
some treats in a basket, kisses, taffy and what would
be a refrig magnet at home, but no frigs and no magnets.
I wrote CTR, or nice words on them. Kisses still left,
but they liked the thoughts. The pink tie had glued
his thought on his tie. Loyal I loved what he had
chosen to do with it! :)

Bore Hole handovers for 3 sites. Hallelujah!! June 10 2016 Kayunga Uganda

In our travels this week we passed this school that had a clean
water sign on the side of the school. This is exactly what I am
trying to teach them about cleaning the water instead of boiling.

We see sticks like this often. I asked our contractor that was with
us. what does the funnel and cup mean? He told me the funnel
means that this store has fuel and the cup means 'home brew'
the brew is on the shelf and fuel is under, on the ground.
We are just about to start the first of 3 handovers. This is at a
catholic school with about 700 students.

The Priest is talking and praying and the students all joined in.
Martin, our champion is on the left, then E & S Howard. Our
contractor took the picture.

Some of the older students. The schools went from kindergarten
to graduation. So all ages.

They had a ribbon cutting ceremony.

One of the council members tested the water and pronounced it good!

Everyone was happy! and we went on to the next school.

This is Bugerere primary school and the kids are excited. Not
quite as fancy as the catholic school but everyone here was
very helpful to our contractor.

They sent the kids back to class and we were left with the
committee members. They carried desks out of the classrooms
in the back so we had seating.

Another ribbon cutting! With scissors that didn't want to cut!'

Finally it worked and they had a thank you gift for us.

A bunch of matoke and a Billy goat, presented to E Howard.
We were not quite sure what we should do but they loaded him
into the back of our truck! We went over to the final school.

This school is Bugerere High school and a partner to the primary
school. We used the same scissors for the ceremony.

E Howard trys his hand at pumping the water.

Another thank you gift of matoke and Nanny goat! Yikes!! I see
a goat herd in the future! This female was so nervous that as they
loaded her into our truck she peed on my feet! Good thing I was
in my flips!
She is wondering what is happening. A truck ride?

By the time we unloaded the goats our billy was ready to pee too!
We gave the goats to Martin our champion and Godfrey our
contractor. They were very pleased! I was not sure what were
supposed to do with goats. But it all is fun! And many people
got clean water today!

Jinja Hospital, Miracle's Baptism, Jinja Stake Conference May 2016

We went to Jinja Hospital to check out the need for wheelchairs.

I was quite impressed with the fancy border and how lovely
the grounds were maintained!

Even beautiful flowers blooming everywhere!
We got to see live action when a ambulance arrived.

Elder Howard has arranged a tour for us!

We start with the sterilization building,

They had 6 of these machines for sterilizing, but only 1 machine
worked!

A parked, disabled wheelchair, no longer being used.

The X-ray department was next.

A stationary machine plus a portable...but no film. They are
unable to take Xrays!

Ultrasound was next...

But machine was too small and useless.

This is where wheelchairs, beds, etc are all stored and look to
be never used. They need everything here that hospitals use. I
think wheelchairs would be a low priority. (at least in my mind)

We frequently see this Fridge Clinic car parked at the top of
our hill. But never see a worker or customers. :)

This is the baptism of Miracle, a young girl we have befriended.
E Majawa on the left, then Miracles mom, who happened to show
up just the day before, another sister that was also baptized,
(not related to Miracle) and E Cook :)

E Howard, Miracle and S Howard.

This is our friend George from the Njeru Ward playing at the first
official stake conference. 6 months ago the Jinja Stake was
organized and S Goodwin played the keyboard for the meeting.
This first meeting George, who is 15 years old, played and did a
wonderful job!! S Chatfield, the mission Pres wife, saw that he got
a keyboard so he could learn more of the hymns. He loves to practise!

Bishop Jaker and wife with S and Pres Chatfield. He is the bishop
of Njeru ward where we attend

Our good friend Ronald from the Njeru ward. He bore his testimony
at conference, after he was sustained to be made an elder. He has
only been a member for a few months, but has paid tithing for 3
years and worked with the missionaries for 8 years!! Just a really
wonderful man! :)
